Study centre
The Tamil Nadu Open University Study Centre and Contact Programme was started at the Dr. N.G.P College of Education recently. The college is one among the 10 selected by the university to start the programme. This facility would provide an opportunity for people to upgrade their qualification, said Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, Kovai Medical Center Research and Educational Trust.
The university programme will offer media-backed teaching techniques.
N. Sethuraman, Controller of Examinations, Tamil Nadu Open University, was the chief guest.
Assumes charge
G. Chockalingam on Wednesday assumed charge as the Principal District Sessions Judge, Coimbatore.He was earlier, Registrar (Judicial) at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.After the transfer of the previous Principal District Sessions Judge, S.F. Akbar, Judge of the Labour Court, S. Baskaran was holding full additional charge as the Sessions Judge for the last few months. Mr. Baskaran has now assumed office as First Additional District Sessions Judge.
Handloom Mark
TCS Textiles Private Limited has received the Handloom Mark from the Textiles Committee.According to a release from the committee, the handloom mark encourages sales and production of handloom products.
Programme
Sri Ayyappan Puja Sangham will conduct Puja Sangha Samashti Upanayanam ceremony on May 6 at its premises. The programme will start at 7 a.m., according to a press release issued here.
Eye camp
MV Eye Hospital will conduct an eye camp at Astro Health Centre, Tirupur, on May 5.
The camp is being held in association with Coimbatore District Blindness Control Society, Coimbatore Cotton City Lions CLub and TMF Hospital.
Course
The UGC Academic Staff College of Bharathiar University will conduct an orientation course and a refresher course in environmental studies on May 4. The course will be inaugurated by the University Vice-Chanceller, G. Thiruvasagam.
